{Giveaway} from Day Spring

Recently I was sent this very special jewelry set from Day Spring's Incourage line. The By Grace Alone jewelry is one of my faves from their collection. Their jewelry line is all made of silver tone metal, they are substantial pieces but are light weight when you wear them. I think they are a perfect addition to your accessories and are a great way to share your faith and inspire others around you. I also think they would make a great Mother's Day gift to your Mom!

Based on the scriptures in 1 Corinthians 15:10.

Photobucket

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them, yet not I but the grace of God that was with me.
1 Cor. 15:10

In these scriptures before this Paul is telling the Corinthian people what Jesus came to Earth to do, how he came to save us. And it is by his grace alone that we over come. This is just a sweet simple reminder of how much Jesus loves us, how much he cares for us. By his grace, we are who we are. By his grace we are saved. He is with us.

I love all the amazing products Day Spring has to offer, everything from inspiring cards, to home decor can be found on their site. Here's just a few of my favorite items I found on their site:

{DIY} Easy Gift Ideas

I'm always on the hunt for easy and affordable gift ideas for giving to people, especially my family. I don't want to spend a lot {and I don't believe you have to} but I do want it to be special and from the heart! My niece and nephews birthdays were this month, and I was having a hard time deciding what to get them. They already have a ton of toys and clothing. So I decided to go simple, I thought these gifts turned out cute.

I picked up these $5 movies from Target and paired them with a bag of popcorn since movies and popcorn go so well together I thought it was perfect!

Photobucket

Photobucket

I then used some ribbon and tissue paper I already had on hand and wrapped them up all pretty, looking like this:

Photobucket

Next I added a card, and got them ready to mail!

Photobucket

Isn't that so cute! And the best part was getting a phone call from my niece yesterday telling me how much she loved her movie! And my Step-Dad thinking it was so cool that I sent a bag of popcorn along. his exact words: "Leave it to Annie to think of the neatest things."

Yup, I think I did good. All smiles on this end. SO glad it could help make their birthdays a little special especially since we can't be there!

IHeart: Mario Badescu Skin Care

Can't believe how fast this week has been flying by, it's already Wednesday! Our Easter weekend was good. We had planned to go out of town to visit friends in Northern Arizona but due to some car issues we ended up staying home for the weekend. Ava contracted pink eye somehow, and we spent Friday night in Urgent Care for the first time. She was not feeling well all weekend, and was really whiney and didn't sleep much. But, she's doing a lot better since getting on antibiotics. Hoping she'll be back to her normal self by the end of the week. We had a pretty low key Easter because of this, I'd planned a big egg hunt for her and some other things for us to do as a family but we ended up staying home and hanging out on the couch with our sick girl after church.

****** {enter total change of subject here}

Anyway,here's the real subject of this post. It's been a while since I've shared with you some of the things IHeart, so I thought it was a perfect time to share with you some more of my fave things. Let me say first I've struggled with acne my whole life. Except for when I was pregnant my skin was amazing. I'd be preggers all the time if it meant I could still have great skin and minus everything else. he, he....

I've tried every skin care line, over the counter, prescription ones, everything! You name it, I've tried it and I can tell you what I think of it and if it works.

A couple years back a friend of mine introduced me to this skincare line that she'd been using. I decided to give it a go, since I've tried everything else I had nothing to lose. She was right, it worked amazing. For a while there I stopped using it because truth be told it's about $15 a bottle for the face wash alone. A little pricey for me, I'm pretty cheap when it comes to products like shampoo, soap, etc. But, I've been able to find coupons to stores like ULTA which make it a little easier on my pocket book and my skin says thank you.

 I picked it back up this weekend, and I vow to never again stop using this stuff. Within days my skin was clearing and was better. Now, I just have to actually remember to wash my face. Because really when I've had a long day, and it's late I'd rather just crawl into bed than wash my face. {who's with me?}

They have a ton of options in their line of skin care but I use the Acne face wash and the cucumber lotion on my face. They have eye creams, peels, and this awesome drying lotion too:

You can go on their site and find retailers in your area, and look for the coupons from retailers like Macy's, Nordstrom, ULTA and Sephora.

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

For Me.

Lately, I've been thinking a lot about life. Maybe it's because my baby girl isn't such a baby anymore and growing way to fast. Or because I'm reevaluating my first year in Motherhood. I've been thinking a lot about goals I have for myself. I've been thinking a lot about how to navigate this thing called Motherhood, wife, sister, friend, house keeper and just about everything else you can add to a woman's list of who she is or isn't.

Maybe it's because I'm going through a season of loneliness of sorts. Now, before you go thinking this is a woe is me, pity party post, I want to assure you it is not.

This is just me, sharing what's on my heart in hopes to encourage you and myself at the same time. I'm a pretty literal person. Let's take a look at the literal meaning of the word balance. Thank you dictionary.com

bal·ance

[bal-uhns]

noun, verb, -anced, -anc·ing.

–noun

1. a state of equilibrium or equipoise; equal distribution of weight, amount, etc.

Let me first say that I don't believe in balance. {i know, shocker right?!!} The idea of balance means everything must be equal on both sides right?!?

Here's why; no woman or man can perfectly do everything all equal. I can't ever spend the same amount of time in a day that I do at work, at home with my Hubby and child. I can't equally divide my time between crafting, family and friends {not necessarily in that order either.} There aren't enough hours in my day to equally distribute my time to the things or people that are important to me.

To me the idea of "balance" is unattainable and unrealistic.

I do however believe in priorities.

pri·or·i·ty
[prahy-awr-i-tee, -or-]
noun, plural
1. the state or quality of being earlier in time, occurrence, etc.

2. the right to precede others in order, rank, privilege, etc.; precedence.

3. something given special attention.

I believe there are people and things in life that are and should be more important than others. And it's up to me to decide what is priority in my life given that current season or time we're {my family} in. They are always changing as I am always re evaluating the season of life God has us in.

When Orion and I got married what was priority was a lot different than what is priority now. Our lives are always changing, we're always learning, and we're always adding and subtracting what needs to be from our lives.

Maybe it's to de-stress, or rid our lives of the excess. Maybe it's to make the people who are most important to us know and feel that they are loved and cared for.

This is probably going to look different for everyone. My priorities aren't probably going to be the same as yours, they could be but more than likely they aren't going to be.

And the beauty of that is this;

They are what works for our family.

For me.

And when and if we find ourselves in a different season, and different place in life we re evaluate again and make sure our list of priorities are what is met first before anything else.

I am realizing more and more that life is about priorities.

Making your family important. Making your relationship with the Lord important. Your goals, hopes and dreams are important. Making time for yourself, and make sure you're still doing what you love. Things that make you who you are shouldn't fade when you become a wife or mother. They should only enhance who you already are.

I had a brief meltdown a couple weeks before Creative Estates. Babysitters fell through, and I was agonizing over putting Ava in daycare another day, when truth be told I already feel so guilty that she's in daycare and I'm not at home with her.

I've realized in the last year that one of the beautiful and most important things about being a parent, is the ability to choose what is right for you and your family. What I choose may not be what you do. It may not be how you raise your children.

It isn't right or wrong necessarily. But I get to choose what is best for my family based on what we believe, our priorities.

Working outside the home may not be for everyone, or even desirable for everyone. Being a stay at home mother may make you want to puke and lock yourself in a mini van and never come out. To others it may be all they've ever dreamed of. But the blessing is, I choose.

And I've learned that instead of judging other parents, moms or dads let's support, encourage and uplift one another.

Even though I was having worst mother of the year guilt a couple weeks ago, I realized {with the help of my wise hubby & friends} that I am a good mother, and my child is amazing. Regardless of if I work outside my home or not, or if my child is in daycare.

I needed to take a step back, and breathe. To know that I am a good Mom, I am doing my best. And my best is good enough. It may be a lot of trial and error sometimes, but it's the best.

But, I also learned another valuable lesson; I need time for myself.

These days it seems the only alone time I have is late at night while Hubby is in bed, or on a trip to the grocery store. I gave up a lot of things when we first moved to Arizona, things that I loved. People that I loved working with. I gave them up to make this transition work, to make ministry somehow work better. And I know now, that those things are apart of me. They make me who I am, they feed my soul, they ignite fire and creativity, they simply make me happy.

And some where in the middle of it all I didn't know how to work those things into this new found Motherhood. When I actually realized taking the time for me to be a healthy person in Christ, and live out the passions he's given me makes me the Mother I am truly supposed to be.

Taking time for myself is just as important. Making time to do the things I love needs to be a priority as well.

I take pictures because I love it, and it feeds my creative soul. Not because it makes me money. It's For me.

I started this blog and continue to write here, for me.

I invest in mentor ship programs like Arizona Girls Ministries & The Miss America Organization to mentor, give back, and challenge young girls to be the best they can be for themselves and for me because I love it so much.

I craft and create not to show off or see how many people love it. I do it for me, because I love making something from nothing and seeing the finished product.

So while I find my groove in the ever changing seasons that life throws at me, and while I know a lot of you are doing the same I pray that you be encouraged in whatever season you're in.

That you take time for you. Remember what you love and do that.

Smile at life's most simple moments.

Breathe sometimes when it gets to hard, say a little prayer to the one who holds it all and is holding you too.

Do this, for you.

For us.

Date Your Mate Challenge Week #1

Hello Everyone!

This week, I'm taking on Erin's Date Your Mate Challenge {DYMC} over at Bringing Up Burns. What is DYMC you ask? Well you can read the full deets here.

Date Your Mate Challenge - Week #1 Don't Worry, Be Happy

This week, do something that lets your mate know they are appreciated and nurtured. Something that lets him know you are all together in LOVE with the institution of marriage - and HIM! Think of something you know will make him happy, and DO IT!

I'm trying to get back to the little things, that made us fall in love. The little things that we did for each other to make life special while dating. You know all those small ways you let you boyfriend/girlfriend know while you were dating how much you loved and cared about them? While you were still in your honeymoon stage and everything was coming up roses?!!

Yeah that stage!

I'll be the first to admit, that Orion and I have been  through a lot in these last two years. And somewhere in the middle of it all we've been just trying to survive instead of really thriving in our marriage. We've often neglected our marriage and our relationship for the church, the ministry, and going through all these life changes.

We haven't been on a real date since our anniversary last year. Isn't that awful!?!

Yes, I'll raise my hand and say it is.

We actually just sat down this weekend, and had a real come to Jesus discussion about our marriage. What do we want from it? What does the other need from the other? What are our goals? How are we going to get there?

It won't be over night. It may take some time.

But we love each other, and we're willing and ready to place some much needed importance on US again.

So for this week's challenge I did something really small.

I made Orion's lunch for work this week.

I don't usually make his lunch, usually it's a scramble in the morning getting out the door and throw lunch together from leftover's the night before. And he usually does it himself.

This week I took the time to make his lunches and think about the snacks and foods he loves and made lunch. And then I slipped these little guys into his lunch for a little somethin' special!

It didn't take long.

But it did make an impact.

And made the Hubs happy and he felt loved and cared for.

I'm excited to continue this challenge week to week and see what other ideas bloggers are coming up with!

You can link up and follow along the challenge too, go here:

Thanks Erin for a really cute idea and a wonderful challenge!

{DIY} Water Bottle Labels

I've gotten a few emails about the water bottles at Ava's party, so I thought I'd do a quick tutorial on how I made them. They are so simple and easy to make, all you need are some supplies and time. You can whip these up pretty quick and I think they add some pizazz to your party, and a little extra special touch!

Photobucket

Here's what you need:
- case of water bottles
- glue gun
- scrapbook paper {for 24 bottles I used 3 sheets of paper, don't forget your coupons for the craft store}
- embellishments are optional {stickers, labels, etc.}
- scissors

Here's what you do:
- First you want to remove all the existing labels off your water bottles. Save 1 label to use as your template.
- Use the saved label to measure and trace the outline of the label onto your scrapbook paper. Do this and repeat as many times as you need to cover your water bottles. For example, if you have 24 bottles to label do this 24 times so you end up with 24 labels to re cover your bottles.
- Next, wrap the labels around the bottles and use your glue gun to seal them in place. I first used double sided tape and they all started to come undone. But, the hot glue was strong enough to hold them so I replaced it with that. This works the best. Repeat this step till they are all covered.
- You can add embellishments to the center of the water bottles. I used some left over favors tags and added them to the fronts. You can see it in the picture above, but this step is totally optional. There's so many cute choices of paper out there that you probably won't need to do this.

Couple tips:
You can't put these bottles in buckets of ice or the paper will get wet, bleed and all your hard work and pretty bottles will go to waste. I suggested chilling your water in the fridge till it's time for your party to make sure they are cold. Then just take them out of the fridge a couple minutes before the party and they will be cold.

Enjoy!!

People will think you're so fancy and crafty, and YOU ARE!

Blog Roll Monday: Hooked on Houses

Happy Monday Everyone!!

Did you all enjoy your weekend? I sure did. I didn't get as much done in the way of projects and housework, but I did enjoy my weekend which included a date night with Hubby, and a pool side BBQ with our friends!

Thank you weekend, you did me well!!

Ok, now onto what we're here for right?!!

I love, love looking at real estate it doesn't even matter if I'm not buying or have any plans to. One of my favorite parts of the home buying process while we were going through it was getting to look at all kinds of different properties, seeing how they were built and the floor plans.

I found this blog through Mrs. B and ever since I've been hooked {no pun intended}

Meet Julia from Hooked On Houses.

If you love drooling over real estate like me you're going to love her site! She's got the market covered on celebrity homes, homes from movies, and other homes you've seen on the HGTV channel. All here on one site.

Tons of eye candy, decor and real estate as it's best.

It's one of my fave blog to read, and I look forward to when it pops up in my reader with a new post!

Happy reading, tell her Andrea sent you.

Happy Monday!

Into the Weekend

This week has been crazy. It was our annual District Council for my job, and I've been working late everyday this week. Coming home late and crawling into bed after kissing my sweet loves. Ava is currently in a whining stage. She whines and cries all the time. It's really fun {insert, sarcasm here} Hopefully I can take this weekend to re charge a bit, and get some rest.

I also hope to take this weekend and finish up some projects that I have been putting off, saving for later.

Like um, a chalkboard project.

Some knock off TOMS.

Trying to grow my own herbs.

And a simple water bottle tutorial, for those that have been asking.

Wish me luck this weekend! Also, I wanted to let you in on some very fun giveaways that will be coming your way. I'm so excited about these, it's going to be so fun.

Here's a hint;

{Creative Estates 2011} A Wrap- Up

This past weekend I attended my very first blogging conference with creative bloggers in mind. This conference was founded by the ever creative *Shey*[B] and Tauni from It's a Tradition. Your favorite creative bloggers all in one spot, a place to dream accordingly and glean from a couple hundred of your favorite people?!! Yes please!

Creative Estates was born! This was a chance to meet up, and hear from some of my very own favorite bloggers and creative people. Hear their stories, and gain some knowledge from them. But, not only that I had the chance to meet some really great people this weekend. The room was filled with so many wonderful, talented, inspiring and ambitious ladies.

Photobucket
Photobucket Photobucket

I didn't realize that I was in the company of so many Arizona bloggers, I was so excited to meet everyone of them. We're already dreaming of meeting outside this conference. I also had the great pleasure of meeting some of my own "blog celebrities" like Shelley from House of Smith's, Amy from The Idea Room, Jenn from Tatertots & Jello and Kim from The TomKat Studio.

There were tons of workshops to take advantage of but my very favorites were on Saturday where I got to hear from a lovely panel of talented creative mamas on balancing creative work and motherhood. That panel was oozing knowledge, I just soaked it all in.

Let's just pause for a second and take in the amazing venue;
Photobucket

Photobucket

Isn't that amazing? Creative Estates was held here at the Inspirador in Chandler, Arizona. Such a beautiful space, if I got married all over again to the same man I'd do it here!

Photobucket Photobucket

It's so crazy/awesome to me this community of blogging, and that's truly what it is a Community. One that I am so thankful for and grateful to be apart of. When I started my blog it was for me, and it always will be but I am amazed daily at how this little blog reaches people and that is inspiring, and exciting to me.

There's a lot of competition in this world, and even in blog land there is. It can get consuming seeing other sites grow, and comparing yours to anthers, etc. etc. But at this conference there was just such overwhelming support of one another. Believing in yourself, your abilities and whatever you're doing do it to the best of your ability. I loved that!

I walked away feeling inspired, and remember once again why I blog in the first place. And appreciative of the love and support at home and online that I have in my life. It makes blogging such a true and wonderful thing. It wasn't just lessons to be learned about blogs and blogging these were life lessons being taught this weekend, by some of the most amazing women.

During the afternoon, we had the chance to choose from a couple of craft workshops to attend. I decided to do the painting one, I'm not much of a painter but I thought I'd try my hand at something else creative. Here's what I came up with;
Photobucket

We ended the weekend with a closing event that included cupcakes {hello, I'm so there} and drawing winners for some fantastic giveaways. Yours truly walked away with a jewelry box. Look at this amazing display:

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket

And since I go ga-ga over a cute cupcake display I just had to take a picture of these amazing displays, don't think I'm not already trying to figure out in my head how I can make one of these too.
Photobucket

Left: Me and Destiny. I've talked about her before on the blog. She was my "blog friend" first and then my friend in real life. We met through our blogs, thank you Internet. Turns out she's just as sweet in person as she is on her blog. I love that over the last few months we've become friends, our husbands like each other, and our kids play well together. It's a true testament to the relationships and community there is in blogging. I'm so thankful that our blogs brought us together.

Right: Me and the ever fabulous Kim from The TomKat Studio. I've been following her blog for over a year now, she truly has an inspiring story. She left her job in real estate when the market crashed and started her own printable party company. She's a real success story, and the nicest person ever! I got to meet her {insert dream come true} and talk with her. She even remembered Ava's Cupcake themed birthday party, where I used some of her printables to style it.

Photobucket
Me and the lovely Moriah owner and author of the blog/shop Josiah's Nest! We met while attending church together in Minneapolis. I'm so glad I got the chance to see her this past weekend. It's so fun to see friends from all over. Check out her shop, cause she's got such cute stuff there.

To sum up my experience this weekend; incredible!

There's such love, and encouragement flying all over the room this weekend! It truly was one BIG party I was blessed, and honored to attend!

I'm already trying to figure out how I can attend next year in Salt Lake. If you want more info on Creative Estates and how you can come next year, click here.
