Favorite Social Media & Why I Love Them

Fave Social Media

I love social media. Some might say that as a society we're way to connected or involved in social media, but I believe everything in moderation. These tools have become my faves for connecting with family, friends and other bloggers. So today a run down of my favorite social media outlets and why I love them.

1. Instagram (@worleyhouse)
I love pictures, I always have. I probably use Instagram the most these days. I love being able to share a quick picture and now video with everyone. Quick fun snippets of life.

2. Twitter (@worleyhouse)
Twitter used to be my #1 but now it's a close second. I love that you can have quick conversations with people about issues or topics that are important to you. I love that I've been able to talk with favorite bloggers and even a few celebs that have replied to me. :) I also love sharing articles and blog posts this way. Choosing your words wisely is my favorite part as you've only got 140 characters to do it in!

3. Facebook (/worleyhouseblog)
There was a time when I had no intention and didn't want to join Facebook but when I moved away from family strait outta college I decided that Facebook was a great way to keep in touch. Now, it's become a fave tool of mine to not only keep in touch but it's helped my business and blog grow.

What are some of your fave social media apps and how do you use them? Leave your handles below so I can follow you too!

iheart: my Clarisonic!

A few of my favorite things, stuff I love, things I actually use and letting you know why
Iheart them so much!

*****

Source: ulta.com via Andrea on Pinterest

I first heard about Clarisonic through Whippy Cake, Becki talked about it in a video I watched on her site. I just had to know more about this awesome beauty tool. After doing some research and feeling a little overwhelmed about the price (it's kinda pricey) I began to mull it over a bit, for a few months actually.

I've always had really bad skin, mostly due to my PCOS. I remember years in high school having some of the worst breakouts ever! Going through college where you had late nights of studding and papers to write, washing my face was sometimes on the lowest priority. I've tried just about every cleanser out there, you name it I've probably tried it.

Actually the best skin I've ever had was when I was pregnant. Imagine that. Then about 3 years ago I found the best skin cleanser I've tried and it's been wonders for my skin. Still, I'll admit I don't always take the best care of my skin (ie: washing it every night and taking my make-up off) and it shows at times.

After hearing a lot of recommendations about the Clarisonic I decided that I really wanted to make the investment. After saving for a few weeks I purchased it after Christmas and have now been using it now for over a week. And let me tell you...it's WONDERFUL!

It really helps clean your face well, leaves it feeling super soft too. I use my own cleanser with it. Nothing fancy or special, it just deep cleans my face and leaves it feeling refreshed and a lot cleaner. I saw a difference in just 1 use.

Here's my suggestions for getting a great deal on it, since it's kinda expensive (in my opinion.)

I bought the Clarisonic Mia, through Ulta.com and got free shipping. They have deals like this all the time, so I suggest buying it through a site like that. They also have a great rewards program too, so you can earn points as well.

My other suggestion is buying it through Ebates.com you will get 3% cash back if you go through them, and then buy from Ulta.com.

It's a product I really love, and I think it's worth the investment.

Edited to Add: Alicia had some really great questions that I thought I'd answer here as well. I did try both the Neutrogena and Oil of Olay brushes before buying the Clarisonic. The biggest difference is the speed of the brushes. They aren't as fast, and don't give you that "deep" clean feeling, and they don't exfoliate as well because they have a lower speed. The Mia is faster, and the Mia 2 has two cleaning speeds. After spending $14 on the Neutrogena one, and borrowing the other one I decided the Clarisonic was worth the investment. After having it for a week now and using it, I'm glad I went with this choice. It's over all better than other cleaning brushes out there.

What products are you loving these days?! Tell me in the comments below.

I was not paid to tell you about this product, none of these companies even know who I am. This is just a product I really love and use myself.

iheart: Video Beauty Tutorials

I love finding video tutorials on how to do hair and make up! There's so many great ideas floating around the Internet in the last few weeks I've been able to find some really great ones that have helped me look my best. I wanted to share a few of them that I really love, hopefully they inspire you to try something new with your look, and give you confidence.

This first one is from Michelle Money from The Bachelor fame. She's pretty funny, and has great video tutorials. This is how to curl your hair....it's changed my life. I wear my hair like this all the time! And I've finally mastered this technique! Check it!

Next up, make up! I always love finding great new tutorials on how to do make- up. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to make up so I love, love finding new videos with great explanations and deets on products. This one if from Becki at Whippy Cake. Check out her channel here, and watch the video below.

This is my second fave way to do my hair from Kate at The Small Things blog! She's awesome at giving all kinds of tips and tricks. You've gotta check out her blog, if you haven't already.

Do you heart beauty tutorials too? Tell me your faves in the comments below!

Ps- I announced the winners of the Shutterfly contest today on my Facebook page! Did you win? GO here to find out.

Baby Products We Love Part 2

I first shared some of the baby stuff we love way back last year when Ava was just four months old. I still love all those products, but now that's she's a little older and we're onto different stages I thought it was time to do a little run down of what I'm loving these days.

Parenthood is a bunch of trial and error sometimes I think. Finding the right baby products is much the same way I think. I remember registering for sippy cups and toys that Ava wasn't going to use right away as an infant. Wouldn't you guess that I got 4 different sippy cups that I registered for and she doesn't like any of them! She couldn't drink out of any of those, and so I was on a hunt and quest to find "just the right" sippy cup that wouldn't leak either.

16 months later I think I found one! My advice, don't register for a bunch of stuff your baby isn't going to use right away, especially when you don't know if your baby will take to or use that specific product. There's a million pacifiers to choose from today, but instead of registering for a bunch of those leave them off your list and just buy 1 or 2 to try out. Let everyone else buy you more useful things like diapers, furniture, and things you'll actually use right away.

These are some of our my favorite things to use, toys we love, and products are can't live without. Let's start with beauty products; every baby needs to smell good right?!

baby products we love

One of the things we've learned is that Ava is allergic to every. single. diaper! Except Pampers Sensitive, don't worry I've tried them all even the generic ones. Yup, allergic to them too! So for the sake of keeping her rash free we keep her wearing Pampers and we use the same wipes. Although I'm testing out an experimenting with Target brand sensitive wipes and so far they seem to be OK, we might be able to make a cheaper switch on wipes soon. It's the little things, I know.

She also has eczema really bad, and she's allergic to {again} pretty much every baby lotion and soap except for the dye & fragrance free organic ones. We use Aveeno baby lotion & shampoo, and their eczema cream lotion to help clear that up and keep it under control.

more baby stuff

Finally I found a sippy that is spill proof and I love, the Playtex Sipster is our friend. Ava doesn't have a lot of toys and the ones she does have all were given to her by her awesome family. This Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Table is one of our faves that keep her busy, She also loves this one, and this one too. Books, she loves them. And I do to, I'd rather be reading to her than anything else. She often times will carry around a book and sit on the floor and "read" to herself. It's pretty much the cutest thing, and we read before bed every night together. It's our special thing.

We're trying to break her of the pacifier right now, but for a long time this Booginhead pacifier grip has been my friend. It has a universal fit so it'll go on any pacifier you have. It has saved us from loosing them in the car, on a plane and at daycare. Lastly, we love food! We love snacks. I really love the Annie's Homegrown Organic snacks.  I know exactly what's in them, and I feel good about letting her eat these, plus they are in the shape of bunnies, isn't that cute!

The next item I really love and appreciate it is the Snack Trap by Made for Mom. It has two handles for easy griping, and keeps snacks in instead of on my floor. I really like it because Ava can walk around the house with it, or we take it on errands. It's always full of snacks and in her diaper bag at all times. It's handy, convenient and makes life better!
So there you have it, there's our round up of stuff we really love baby wise at this age. To see even more of the stuff we love for babies and kids, or our home, click here.

IHeart: Mario Badescu Skin Care

Can't believe how fast this week has been flying by, it's already Wednesday! Our Easter weekend was good. We had planned to go out of town to visit friends in Northern Arizona but due to some car issues we ended up staying home for the weekend. Ava contracted pink eye somehow, and we spent Friday night in Urgent Care for the first time. She was not feeling well all weekend, and was really whiney and didn't sleep much. But, she's doing a lot better since getting on antibiotics. Hoping she'll be back to her normal self by the end of the week. We had a pretty low key Easter because of this, I'd planned a big egg hunt for her and some other things for us to do as a family but we ended up staying home and hanging out on the couch with our sick girl after church.

****** {enter total change of subject here}

Anyway, here's the real subject of this post. It's been a while since I've shared with you some of the things IHeart, so I thought it was a perfect time to share with you some more of my fave things. Let me say first I've struggled with acne my whole life. Except for when I was pregnant my skin was amazing. I'd be preggers all the time if it meant I could still have great skin and minus everything else. he, he....

I've tried every skin care line, over the counter, prescription ones, everything! You name it, I've tried it and I can tell you what I think of it and if it works.

A couple years back a friend of mine introduced me to this skincare line that she'd been using. I decided to give it a go, since I've tried everything else I had nothing to lose. She was right, it worked amazing. For a while there I stopped using it because truth be told it's about $15 a bottle for the face wash alone. A little pricey for me, I'm pretty cheap when it comes to products like shampoo, soap, etc. But, I've been able to find coupons to stores like ULTA which make it a little easier on my pocket book and my skin says thank you.

 I picked it back up this weekend, and I vow to never again stop using this stuff. Within days my skin was clearing and was better. Now, I just have to actually remember to wash my face. Because really when I've had a long day, and it's late I'd rather just crawl into bed than wash my face. {who's with me?}

They have a ton of options in their line of skin care but I use the Acne face wash and the cucumber lotion on my face. They have eye creams, peels, and this awesome drying lotion too:

You can go on their site and find retailers in your area, and look for the coupons from retailers like Macy's, Nordstrom, ULTA and Sephora.

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

{iHeart} Layla Grace

I've been looking and looking at the site Layla Grace for months now since I found it. Their site is filled with all things for babies, children and Mommies. They have unique finds for pretty much everything on your list. I like them so much because they offer things that you just don't find anywhere else, and I think that makes it really special.

Recently I was coveting admiring my friend Destiny's diaper bag while we were chatting at church one Sunday, I asked her where she got it and the brand. When she told me she got it at a garage sale for $10 I was jealous! Ava is 11 months old, and her diaper bag is falling apart. It's an Eddie Bauer brand and it already got two rips in it a couple weeks after I first got it. Some things spilled on the inside and hasn't been very easy to clean, I've wanted to look into getting a new one for a while now. Something that will last her and our future children who I'll use it with.

I quickly began searching the brand to see where I found find the brand and Layla Grace came up in my search. I started following them on Twitter sometime ago and remembered they sent me a 20% off code for an order. Armed with this I began searching their site for a diaper bag that I loved, and could last for a while. Here's what I fell in love with:
Photobucket

Tis' the Season.......

For a review of favorite things.

Oprah gives them away, here we just review them and tell you all about my favorite things. My friend Destiny did a "Favorite Things" party once where everyone brought enough of their favorite thing and everyone at the party got to take home 1 of each person's fave thing. How cool is that?!!? I'd love to do that someday, and have a fun little party!

Here's a few of my favorite things, in no particular order:

Pretty much this is attached to one of my hands at all times.
Baby in one hand, check.
Camera in the other, check.
This little guy has been an invaluable thing to me, since I began my photography business but it's also allowed me to capture everyday moments too.

The book.
This is my favorite book. Of. All. Time.
I first read this book when I was in 8th grade and fell in love with Rhett & Scarlet and the charm of it all.  Someday, I hope to have a house like Tara too!

Lip Gloss
Specifically Mark Juice Gems
I love lip gloss, I have to many tubes to count, they are just a small way to feel glammed and girly!

Pedicures
I could probably get one of these daily.
No really.
I love them, they are one of my fave indulgences. Trashy magazines, time to myself, and pretty toes at the end, so right up my alley.

A year ago I switched over and became a Mac user. I'm in love. This little machines is the stuff. If you don't use a mac try it out, I don't know why I used a PC for so long anyway.

My fave movie. I love Sandra Bullock, and this movie is so funny! Makes me laugh every time, and there's some pretty memorable quotes from this movie that I like to say; "Be the crown, wear the crown, you are the crown!" Thanks Vic!

Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha
I love coffee, pretty much in any form. But this is my fave little treat!
YUM, that's all I can say!

What are some of your favorite things?
Check out Mrs. B & other bloggers as they give a run down of some of their favorites.

iheart: Beauty Product Junkie

Oh, Lordy! It's been a while since I told you about some of the things iheart! It's so secret around my house that I'm kinda a product junkie. That cute little packaging and the promise that "it'll change your life." gets me every time! Especially beauty products, Y.E.S.

Over the years I have fallen in love with some amazing products that work wonders for me. I'll tell you about'em, some are cheap-o drug store and some are of the department store/salon brand variety!

Either way here's what keeps me goin' and lookin' fab!

 Bumble & Bumble Deeep

This awesome little leave in conditioner works wonders for me. I use it once every two weeks instead of my normal conditioner on that day. I put it on right in the shower and continue about my business and then rinse just before getting out. Perfect enough time for it to do its magic! This stuff is awesome for me since I color my hair, blow dry it, flat iron it and pretty much all around torture my locks..this helps bring them back to life!

Redken Glass Smoothing Serum

This gem, I've been using her since I was in 8th grade! Yes, you heard that! She's really awesome for smoothing away all those frizzies and helping your dry hair. I have naturally curly hair and when I was in junior high I had no idea what to do with my hair to control the frizzies my hair dresser introduced this stuff to me and my Mom bought it for me for years! I still love it to this day, it works great controlling all that stuff and giving you a great shine and smoothing out your hair!

What beauty products do you love?

4 Baby Products:

that are saving my life right now............

er, making things easier..........................

um, that I LOVE!

Most Moms would agree that there are definite needs when it comes to baby stuff, and there's some other things that you don't probably need but are nice to have around.

These are my 4 must haves, they are making my life (our lives) easier with a baby and come in pretty handy when you wanna get something done!

Here goes:
1. The Itzbeen Baby Care Timer: this little guy is wonderful. If you're like me you forget what you were doing all the time, "baby brain" is seeming to catch up with me and I don't see it going away anytime soon. This timer keeps track of all your feedings, diaper changes, sleep times, etc. all you have to do is press a button each time and it keeps track of it all. I love this, because now I don't have to think and keep track of what time it was when I last fed her. It does the work for me and LOVE that!
2. Fisher Price Vibrating Bouncer: I use this thing a ton. It's a great help to me when making dinner, or when I want to get some cleaning done.
3. Infantino Baby Carrier: I think some sort of baby carrier is a must. This is the one we have and I love it! I used this thing when we flew and traveled in June, I strapped her in and carried her through the airport and it worked like a dream! I also use this a lot going on walks with the dog during the day.
4. Bright Stars Play Gym:  I registered for this and my Sister in Law got it for me, and I'm so thankful I have it! Now that Ava is getting bigger she actually likes playing with this. I let her play and she rolls over and back and forth on this thing, it's wonderful for keeping her busy!

There you have it! My fave baby products at the moment! This may be subject to change as we move along into different stages with our little one. What are some of your fave products for babies? What can't you live without?

PS- This is my 800th Post!!! WOWZERS! I've been M.I.A. for the last few days, and with good reason. More on that tomorrow!

iheart: Organizing Products

It's been a while since I've shared with you something that iheart and I'm really diggin' these days! Today I thought I'd share with you once of my all time favorite items for organization in your home. I use these little guys pretty much everywhere, since my discovery of them three years ago.

KOMPLEMENT

Storage box, set of 6
$9.99

These little guys are from Ikea and they are life savers! They come in a pack of 6 you get a variety of sizes and the best part maybe is the fact they all totally collapse able and can be stored flat. They all come in two colors black [which the Hubs loves] and cream.

We have them in our dresser drawers to organize our socks, undies, etc.

I use them in the bathroom underneath the sink to house all our body lotions, sprays, looming medicines and other toiletries.

I have some in the kitchen to keep all my plastic Tupperware lids and containers in their place.

I think there's a number of things these little guys could be used for, you just have to pick some up and go to work making everything all organized and pretty!

What's your fave storage solution?

iHeart: Televison

iHeart, is a weekly feature here on Worley House, where we high light and talk about some of our favorite things.
****

This week it's all about t.v. I may have a slight addiction to television and the Internet. Just slightly. I love t.v. reality, daytime, prime time I love it all. This week all my fave shows are either ending forever or ending because of their season finales. What will I ever do this summer to get my t.v. fix???

Here's a little list of my fave shows. In no order, I just heart all of these. Let's see if some are your faves too.

24: Do you watch? I love this show. It's actually one of those shows Orion and I started watching from the very beginning and enjoy watching together. I'm sad to see that it's coming to an end. Maybe they'll make a movie!

Modern Family: If you don't watch this you're missing out!! Orion and I discovered this show a few months back and we've been hooked. It's so funny!

The Hills & The City: What can I say? I just can't stop watching this train wreck. Anyone else with me?

Tori & Dean Home Sweet Hollywood: I love this couple, they are so fun to watch and they have adorable kiddos too! They are my fave reality family to watch.

Dancing with the Stars: Glitz, glam, costumes, fun moves what's not to love? This is one of my Monday night favorites!

Castle: After Dancing, I watch this! Hubby doesn't share my love for this show. But I love it's catchy plot lines, and humor. Not to mention I have a thing for crime dramas.

Parenthood: This is a new series. The title alone got my attention and I've been loving it ever since. I love family dramas, this one does not disappoint either, it's fastly becoming a fave.

SVU: The Original crime drama that I love!! Elliot & Olivia are like my long lost friends, they are like real people to me. I love, love this show. I hope they don't cancel it anytime soon like they did Law & Order.

Greys: Needs no more introduction, we're on a first name basis. I'm pretty sure no hospital in America sees this much drama but I love it!

Private Practice: This season was good, good. I often wonder how do they come up with this stuff? Good writers!

So, there you have it a little run down of some of my favorite shows that help pass the time away. There's so many shows that I could watch, don't even get me started on all the cable shows that I used to watch. Hello HGTV!! See, I told you I have an addiction.

iHeart: Magazines

iHeart is a weekly feature, where we high light some of our favorite things in a variety of categories.
****

It's true, I love them in all their glossy glory! They are great companions for travel, lazy days by the pool [like today] and great for ripping ideas out of them and saving them.

I like to flip through my magazines first and look at all the pretty pictures first, and then go back and read the articles. Does anyone else do this?

Here's a few magazines that I love:

This is one of my all time faves. Filled with decorating and food tips and the best couple magazine out there. It makes being a Newlywed or married couple so much fun.

The ultimate organizing and great tips magazine out there, in my humble opinion. It's one of the best to rip out articles and recipes from.

This is my all time fave fashion and glamour magazine! They have great hair and clothing tips. They also have a great wedding magazine as we as Instyle Homes which are both faves too.

I really like this magazines for their country-chic style. It's a little bit of everything I like for the home. I usually don't get this one on the stands, I like to get it from my Mom's house after she's done reading it and scour for articles.

There you have it! What are some of your favorite reads?
