Wall Galleries

I love photographs, it's no secret. I love displaying them in my home, the Hubs not so much. We have this constant argument whenever I want to put up pictures. He loves art, more than he loves photographs of real people. He sees 2 pictures hanging up as 1 to many. Me on the other hand, I want to fill my house with pictures of the people I love.

A few months ago, while Hubby was gone on a trip I enlisted the help of my friend to help me hang pictures for my wall gallery. Hubby was not really excited to see it when he got home, but he let me keep in anyway.

I had the perfect black & white photo gallery going on, with asymmetrical lines, and different black frames. It was pretty sweet, if I might add. I've since had to take down my gallery and pack it up with our current house situation. I was a little sad to see it go, my house is bare of any photographs of real people.

While perusing through design ideas today I came across an idea I think I want to do for my next wall gallery:

I think this is the perfect fit for someone who wants a wall gallery and doesn't want to commit or have all the holes in your walls. Instead of a ton of holes, you're just making a couple holes for the shelving. I love the layering look of the photo frames over one another.

These shelves are from Room & Board and retail starting at $79, they come in a variety of sizes. But I found these similar ones at the Container Store for $19.99:

Has anyone else tried this idea? If so, I'd love to see your design ideas. Happy Decorating!

Happy Graduation Day Miss Jennie!

Congrats, to my friend Jennie on her graduation from Cosmetology School today! Today, Jennie graduates from school in Prescott, AZ. Wishing I was there with her today to celebrate but I am there in spirit!

She's always been one of the most stylish people I know. She's daring, bold, and so not afraid of taking risks. And I admire that about her!

Jennie, I'm so proud of you it's been a long road ahead, but YOU did it!! Couldn't be more proud of you for chasing your dreams and going for it!

Not to mention, the sweet hair I'm going to have with you as my stylist! ;)

Love you girly! You're going to do an amazing job. Best of luck on finding the place of your dreams to work at!

I SAY....

.... Sun tea is the best addition to these summer days

.... investing in stocks & bonds is the best idea yet.

.... taking time for "dates" with your Hubby are oh, so needed!

.... going through your stuff and "purging" what you don't use is key and so freeing.

.... if you haven't used it, worn it, or seen it in a year, it's probably time to get rid of it. That's my motto!

.... hitting your knee on the side of the bed, is sure to hurt in the morning. Ouch!

.... trying to decide "What's for Dinner?" is half the battle!

.... it's right up there with trying to decide what to wear in the mornings. I am so indecisive.

Blog Roll Monday; Momtog & Drewb

I know what you're thinking, are photography blogs all that this girl reads?!!? Well, the answer is yes, and no. I do read a lot of photography blogs, it's true. But in my defense these blog rolls are in alphabetical order, I just write about them as they come.

Except for this week, I had to group the Fabulous Drewb & Momtog together. Since they are written by the same author I thought it was only fair.

Momtog

I first found Drewb's photography blog by accident while I was reading another blog. But since then, I've fallen in love with her images and her stories. One of the things I would like to become better at are telling the stories of my couples, children and families. And, I've learned the fine art of adding this detail by reading her blog. She's one of my top 3 fave photography blogs that I read daily.

Now on to Momtog, "For Mom's who Love Photography" that's her by line. Now, I'm not a Mom yet, but I found this blog by reading her other blog and with a name like "Momtog" I had to check it out for myself. This adorable little blog is the inspiration for helping other Mom's take great pictures of their children. Such a great resource out there for Moms, and people like me who may not be a Mommy yet, but might want to learn a thing or two. I've learned so much about photographing children, and that's been the best part of reading her blog, not to mention the adorable images of her son!

If you're a Mom you have to read this blog! She'll give you a whole new perspective, plus to don't have to be a Pro to feel like you can do photography for your kids.

Happy reading, and happy Monday folks!
