A Bedroom Makeover {World Market's HGTV Pinspiration Campaign}

I've been dreaming of a master bedroom makeover for a while now. My biggest issue with decorating is being indecisive about things. I've changed my bedroom bedding about three times now in the last five years, but now I feel like I have a good idea of what I like and don't want for our space. We got brand new bedding at the beginning of this year which I really love, and slowly started putting some things together.

This room is in desperate need of paint, some window coverings and some awesome accessories. It's a blank slate, and it's become kinda of dumping ground for a lot of what we don't know what to do with since we live in such a small space. I'm excited to do a makeover on this room once we're in a bigger space and get our master bedroom back to the sanctuary status it needs to have.

Here's a few pictures of how the room currently looks right now;

The bedding is from Target, and I love it we bought it earlier this year. It will stay.

The night stands they are one of my favorite things about the room, we re finished them a while back. You can read more about them here.

Our dresser is from Ikea and we've had it since we were married. Let's just get real it needs to be organized this entire area! All of this will stay in the room, but I'm dying to add some new pieces to spruce up this space.

Here's some dreamy finds that I found at World Market.

I'd love to do a little sitting area in our room with this awesome chair and reading lamp. I also want to add a bench at the foot of the bed for getting ready in the mornings and just because I love the look of it too! And remember those window coverings I mentioned? Yes, I love these shimmery Champagne curtains as well. I think they'll help brighten up the space a bit too since our bedding and a lot of other things are grey and black.

I can't wait to get some paint on the walls and finally finish this room. It's going to be one of the first things on my list in the new house.

Zara Home Hits the U.S!

Friends, today is an exciting day in the world of home decor! I've always loved decor and decorating, I don't talk about it a lot on the blog here but gearing up to be in a home again has been giddy with excitement about decorating a new space and brought back my love of decor and making a home.

I discovered Zara back when I was in high school and traveled to Europe. Zara clothing is on of my faves, used to be that you could only buy it overseas but now their clothing is in the U.S. as well. Today, I'm so excited that Zara Home has made its way to the U.S. as well. They have some awesome finds, I'm really loving their selection of pillows, bedding and throws. Here's just a taste of some of the fun finds that I'm loving.

Zara Home Favorites

They even have a kids line that I'm loving too! How cute are those fringe booties? I'm thinking about picking them up for our little boy!

*I am in no way affiliated with or receiving anything from Zara Home for this post, I just really love their company and product and wanted to share some awesome finds.

Katie's Kloset Visual Decor Board

Do you like my title of this post? It's very Kris Jenner of me, don't ya think? My friend Katie is living it up in NYC, while although she has a fancy life in the BIG Apple she's living in a little apartment trying to maximize every square inch!

While, I've never been to Katie's space and seen what she's working with I like to live vicariously through her Youtube videos while channeling my inner Carrie Bradshaw. Onto the visual decor board, here's what I whipped up to help solve some of her storage issues and help create a space for her and her roomie.

Here's the break down & some thoughts about what we're working with;

In small spaces it's great to have a few key pieces that can pull double duty in your space giving you the most for what you're getting.
  • We've got some vertical closet storage options to hang coats, clothing and more to maximize closet space.
  • The while slim line book shelf is great for anything not just books. Use some of the boxes noted on the board and you've got a sleek way of storing and hiding it all.
  • The 4 tiered cart can be perfect for housing bathroom toiletries, hair brushes, blow dyers & flat irons, the bottom one can be used for  towels, wash cloths, etc.
  • The bench with 4 cubbies would be great in an entry way for shoes and purses when you walk in the door, or in the living space adding extra seating, add a padded cushion so your guests tushies don't go numb.
  • Six tiered hanger for skirts or pants will get the most bang for your buck in your closet without creating bulk.
  • Leather storage bench & matching ottomans you can use the bench it doubles as a coffee table when you flip the lid over, use it to store your laptop, cords and other odds and ends in the living room you need to store. Move the ottomans around for end tables or extra seating when guests are over.
  • These covered shoe boxes aren't just great for shoes use them in your closet to hold small clutches, wallet and other things you want to keep free from dust that you don't use daily.
  • The hanging jewelry organizer is one of my faves (I have one of my own) you can get a lot of jewelry in the little guys and just hang them up in your closet or on the back of your door with a 3M hook and save tons of space by not having a bulky jewelry box.
What do you think?! Doesn't it motivated you to maximize your space, or move to NYC and see how much stuff you can cram in a small space!

Visual Decorating: Bathroom

Do you ever want to scrap what you have an start over? Well, I do. I'm in that mood right now where I look around my house and my tastes and style have changed and I just wanna scrap it all, sell it all and start fresh.

So, for now while budget doesn't allow, I'll visualize my plans and just keep taking notes of my ideas for when the time comes.

Currently our master bath is black & white. I'm over it. It's to dark and I wanna lighten things up a bit. Here's what I'm dreaming up:

It all started with the soap pump you see below, that was my inspiration piece for the room and from there we have the rest.
I hate to see good bathroom duds go to waste though, do you think people buy stuff like that on Craigslist? Cause I might just have to get rid of it somehow and start over.

Till then, I'm dreaming.

Visual Decorating

My Husband is always telling me that he needs to "see" my vision when it comes to decorating and re decorating. Sometimes I have a hard time putting what's in my head into words.

But, thanks to a little blog I read Destiny over at A Place for Us Five had these mood boards, or as I like to call them Visual Decorating boards from Polyvore. Now, I'm sure you've heard of Poyvore before but I hadn't before and today I did and I've been hooked ever since.

I started to work on some visual decorating boards for our future bedroom & kitchen makeovers. I've been wanting to re decorate both these rooms for sometime now. I've decided that I'll be re doing them once we move into a more permanent place.

For now, I'm collecting ideas and saving up. Here's my Visual Decorating board for our bedroom makeover:
And, here's some ideas for a kitchen makeover. Currently my kitchen is composed of reds and blacks. My tastes have changed in the last three years since we got married and registered for stuff. I want something bright and cheery. I want to frame some of the food pictures I've taken as the art work. Here's my ideas for the kitchen:

I showed them to Hubby and he loved them, and he loved the idea of the Visual Decorating boards. These are a great jumping off point for us. I can't wait to collect more ideas and add to our ideas.

Check out Polyvore if you haven't already, I promise it's really addicting.
